Driven by a passion to share the bold, soulful flavors of her heritage, Joan established the business in 2019 alongside her son, TJ. Drawing on authentic Jamaican recipes passed down through generations, she successfully brought the vibrant taste of the islands to the streets of Orillia.Debuting at the Port of Orillia waterfront, Joan quickly cultivated a loyal following. For her, the venture was always about more than just culinary success; it was about fostering community connection. As she describes her philosophy: “The goal was never just to sell food. It was to make people feel something — the warmth of a home-cooked Caribbean meal.”Today, Joan’s dedication to quality and tradition has transformed EBONY Bites into one of the region’s most beloved food destinations. Through her leadership, she continues to serve up signature dishes like Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, and Vegan Stew to a growing and devoted customer base across Simcoe County.
